Two Photos Monday

Good afternoon,

We were pretty busy all day, so I forgot to take photos 'till we were gathered outside to practice out Liturgical Easter play.

Just prior to this, we discussed Good Friday as described through the stations of the cross.

More to that later.

Tomorrow is Terrific Tuesday. Please send the children to school dressed as something starting with the letter P. There will be a parade straight after roll call, so, if you can, please stick around!

If they can't run in their costume, please send their P.E. gear as well. Oh, and their sneakers, either way.

Enjoy this sunshine, its not forecast to last!

Room 2 Newsletter for Term 1 Week 10

...well, kinda.

I haven't been able to get into school this weekend to access the photos that we've got of Room 2's week last week, so...here's the text of the newsletter anyway!

Term 1, Week 10 Tuesday 2 April, 2012

Welcome to the last week of the term. My, how the term has shot by!

Last week we did much of the usual stuff. ‘Cept for practicing for the Easter liturgical Play. That was a new thing.

This week we’ll be doing much the same stuff as last week. Well, in the mornings at least. (‘Till Thursday…no literacy interchange on Thursday). The afternoons will all be about Easter. More whole school Easter Liturgical play practice, as well as learning what happened, and more importantly why, in class.

Speaking of Reading, which I really wasn’t but I can’t think of a clever segway, I thought I might take this opportunity to explain why White Group (and soon Blue group too) are only getting two new books a week. As these readers get better at reading, the stories get longer, so I’ve decided to spread these new texts over two days so we can really get into them, so to speak, during group instruction. Which will mean that on day one of their new text I’ll keep the book at school and they’ll take home a couple of browsing box books to read to you in the evenings. These will be books that they have read to you before, but don’t worry about that. The next day they’ll bring home their new book to share with you.

On Thursday, we will have the Easter Mass / Liturgical play in the afternoon. Probably about 2ish, so’s you can all trot home afterwards, but I’ll let you know more details when I know myself.

As for next week, well, sleep in! Its been a busy old term, and next term looks to be just as busy - rest up!

I intend to finish up a couple of Sarmation knight elements (they fought the Romans and Parthians (and each other) c. 100 A.D. Think the Hungarian plains through to the Ukraine), probably start on some Panzer IVs...maybe even a Stuka to hassle my Crete bound Kiwi(s). (Did you know that the plural for kiwi is actually kiwi?) Oh yeah, and the following week, I’ll have a birthday!

Have a great holiday,

Nick Grant

Friday's Friday

Good afternoon,

A fairly busy day was had here...though it was pretty cool!

We started off practicing our Mihi...

...then we learnt a new poem My Little Sister.

After assembly the whole school trotted out again to practice next week's Liturgical play.

They did really well!

Have a great weekend,

Mr Grant

Thursday's Thursday

Good afternoon,

This morning kicked off with some more time learn'n.

They're doing so well I'll have to move on to quarter to and past next week.

After lunch 'twas all about practicing for the liturgical play. First as a class...

...then as a whole school.

Did I say "all about"? I meant mostly about. We actually finished the day with a game of duck, duck, goose.

Please remember to bring any library books lying around back to school.

CU in the morning,

Practice Wednesday

Good afternoon,

Today we kicked off with some time based Maths...but not so much like The Doctor, more like...what time is it? (To the hour and half hour).

We also had a summative assessment on what the children have learnt through out Keeping Ourselves Safe unit.

This afternoon we finished the day with a practice for our part of the Liturgical Easter Play.

First in the room...

...then in the hall.

However, I have just learned that we're having the Easter Mass outside on the court! Still, at least Room 2 now have some idea of what they are to do...

And a good time was had by all!

CU tomorrow,

Terrific Tuesday...

...oh, wait, that's next week.

Good afternoon,

And what an afternoon to forget to take photos of the children when they were outside! By the way, Room 2 managed to score 63 runs against Room 12 in our non-stop 'cricket' game. Their turn to throw the tennis balls next week.

We started the day with some maths - telling time to the hour.

These IWBs are pretty cool!

Later in the morning, White Reading Group shared yesterday's text with us, The Dinosaur's Cold. ('Cause they are reading today's text - Swoop! - over two days. Their books are getting too long to read in one sitting!)

See you tomorrow,

Mr Grant

Monday Madness

Good evening,

While I was out of the room with the rest of the J Team teachers planning for next term...chaos rained! No, not really!

At about 9:30 the whole school was called out to say goodbye to the Year 7/8s who were off to their camp.

Miss Rooney also took some photos during reading.

And a good time was had by all!

CU in the morning,

Mr Grant
