Monday Monday

Good afternoon,

And welcome to Week 3.

This morning we wrote...

...and read.

As is our norm.

After lunch we discussed how we show we believe in God...

...and then sorted us some more animals.

(During which, I popped outside to catch Room 12 paper macheing..

...which looked like fun!)

Bye for now,

Mr Grant

Room 2 "Newsletter" for Term 2, Week 3

Term 2, Week 3 Monday 7 May, 2012

Good afternoon. Due to a getting distracted with a Typhoon, and feeling a bit crook, I haven’t been into school to get last week’s photos off the server, so…this’ll be illustration free.

But at least the Tablet PC is up and running and talking to both the server and the photocopier again. It’s a little faster too.

Anyhow, last week we had our first full week of Term 2. We even stayed at school all week, doing all the usual stuff. Which wasn’t a bad thing…

This week will be pretty routine right up ‘till Thursday. Thursday’s cross country day. Weather permitting. (Postponement day will be the following Tuesday, if not). We’ll leave for Haswell Quarry at 9:30, the J Team race (the boys and girls are going to run together and diferentiated at the finish line) will be underway at about 11 o’clock, and we’ll be back at school for lunch.

On Friday we’re gonna get messy. Paper mache messy. We’ve got the paper ripped up, we’ve got the balloons blown up, we just need ART SHIRTS and empty icecream containers to rest the balloons in while they dry. So…please bring in a named art shirt and an empty icecream container to school by Friday morning. And if anyone would like to join us, I’d appreciate it! 

As for next week, Week 4, so long as we’re running this Thursday, we’ll be, well, staying at school doing all the usual stuff. Which isn’t a bad thing…

Have a great week,

Nick Grant

May the Fourth Be With You!

Get it? May the fourth?! Ha!

So, of course, we watched some Star Wars clips, courtesy of Lego...

We also learnt a new poem.

...and played Seaweed with Room 12 for fitness.

We then went off to the library...

...and visited Room 12 to see how they were doing their paper mache. (We've ripped a heap of paper and have got our balloons ready).

Which reminds me - next Friday we'll start messing around with glue. So...please provide an art shirt (and, well, if anyone got's any spare time next Friday after morning tea...)

Have a great weekend,

Mr Grant

Thursday's Thursday

Good afternoon,

This morning White Reading Group shared their reading text with us, Noise.

After lunch we popped outside for a quick play with the Hoon Hay School children when they came to use our playground, then came back inside and sorted animals, much in the same way as we did yesterday.

Tomorrow I'll have my Tablet back, hopefully talking nicely to the new server. Hopefully...

CU in the morning. Remember Green House Mufti tomorrow!

Holy Spirit Thursday

Good afternoon,

After lunch, we came back together to discuss the Holy Spirit...

...and how He's a bit like the wind in the trees.

You can't see the wind, but you can see the wind working.

After R.E., we split into groups...

...to sort a bunch of animals into different groups, and explain why.

More of the same tomorrow, with the eventual aim of using the classifications that were introduced to us at Orana Park last week.

Animal Classifications

Greedy Cat's Door

A little something for Red Reading Group tomorrow morning...

Links Tuesday

Good afternoon,

This afternoon, during singing, we learnt this wee ditty...

Rahina, Ratu, Raapa
O nga ra o te wiki enei
Rapare, Ramere, Rahoroi
O nga ra o te wiki enei,
Ratapu, Ratapu
O nga ra o te wiki enei,
Ratapu, Ratapu
O nga ra o te wiki enei.
Sung more or less to the tune of the Banana Boat Song. A cool wee glossary can be found here.

After singing, we carried on with our Creative Play P.E. unit, this time as Machines Alive.

Don't forget to bring in lists of what you learnt at Orana Park, as per yesterday's post.

Bye for now, got to start building me a Typhoon,

Mr Grant
